Content description
Mrs Grey, widow of the late Bishop of Hereford, coming to stay; will be very badly off. Pleasant evening at the Normandy Tower at the invitation of Lord Holland; Lady Holland mellowed by age into a civil and very hospitable dame. Mr Alle, Master of Dulwich College, a fellow guest. To all appearances our little sovereign [Queen Victoria ] is very carefully watched and certainly does not show any particular attention to Conservatives. Sir John Herschel satisfied with his work; has discovered another satellite of Saturn and rediscovered one first seen by his father; will leave the Cape in February or March.
