Visit to auction of medals at Sotheby's. At the Museum Barnewell now has whole charge of the medals and Hawkins of antiquities; the Trustees ought to have added another curator. Two Etonians have been expelled for 5th November 'operations', one called Spottiswoode [Archibald Farmer and William Spottiswoode]. London in a ferment about the Chartists; hopes a military commission will be issued. PLACE: Athenaeum, London
