Medals. Family news. Visit from Sir F. Burdett. Irving right to remove George at Christmas; a good boy but the Sixth Form would not be beneficial to him; he certainly has not mastered the difficulties of prosody. Not yet able to form an opinion on Frederick's abilities. Attack on Dr Hawtrey in the London papers nearly libellous; he acted with judgement and discretion; had he not followed the course he had with the advice and approbation of his staff pledged himself to, discipline would have been at risk.
