Provost James: Letter from Viscount Bridgeman
Item
30 August 1934
1 item
Encloses letter from Lady Stair (/119b). 'It makes one wish that Harrovians would stick to their own school and duckpond'. Will tell her that plans for a new house are being prepared, investigations are taking place into baths, lavatories and the condition of the river water, and that thousands have already been spent on improvements and the College will not be rich until Hampstead (Chalcots estate) falls in. Has heard from the Vice-Provost on Hereward Wake's memorandum. Shot many grouse before being driven in by dreadful weather; hope to return home on Thursday. Asks if he has read The Riddle of the Forest - 'quite nice and curdling to the blood'.
