Content description
Delighted to hear a new house is to be built. Agrees boys were as clean in the old days; not a believer in allowing them to soak in hot baths but most of the present generation have only seen a big bath. Could shower baths not take the place of hip baths? Thinks they should wash after games; the habit of several boys bathing in the same water is horrid. There should be basins for them to wash their hands. Servants object to carrying water etc nowadays. Glad if the Thames was found fit for bathing. Their nephew died 10 days ago as a result of a mastoid in July turning to meningitis; he had been at Eton 2 years. Bathing may have had nothing to do with it
