Modbury, Devon: Acknowledgement of ownership of land

In 1269, William de Ferrars, lord of Newton Ferrars, acknowledged land in Pollekesfenne in his manor of Newton once held by Gilbert de Pollekesfenne, to be that of William de Curcy, Prior, and the priory of Modbury, given by his ancestors to the church of St George of Modbury. The said William de Ferrars now provides a warranty to the prior for this land. Witnesses: William de Bikebir', William Probus, Alexander de Ockeston, John de Orcherton, Robert de Wumewill, John de Edmereston, John de la Porte and others.
