Appointment by Walter, bishop of Exeter, of Richard de Tottonia as vicar of Modbury, with the great and lesser tithes of the vill of Leigh, and a third of the great and lesser incomes of the whole parish, except the great and lesser tithes of Penquit, the offerings on St George's day, and the oblations and wax offerings at the churching of women, also excepting the tithes of the mill and the prior's consecrated ground, provided the vicar inhabits a certain croft next to the Priory garden containing 7.5 acres at 7s rent. Given on the Monday after the feast of the Exultation of the Holy Cross 1269 and the 12th year of his consecration.
Seal: Single pointed oval, 45mm (originally about 65mm), greenish brown wax, pendent from doubled tag, broken at ends. The Bishop full length right hand raised in benediction, the left holding pastoral staff. On his left, St Peter, half length with keys; on his right, St Paul, with sword. The top and base broken away.
