Indenture, between William Daye, Bachelor of Divinity, Provost, and the College, of Eton, on the one part, and Richarde Champernowne, Esquire, of Modbury, and Elizabeth, his wife, on the other, whereby the Provost and College, in consideration of one hundred pounds, agree not to let, without the written consent of the said Richard and Elizabeth or the survivor of them, within the space of fourteen years, the manor or Priory of Modbury, and a tenement with five closes of grounf in Notter, Co. Cornwall, late held by Thomasyn Gifford, Emine Dobine, and Nicholas Dobine, the manor of Upton with eight closes of land(named) in the parish of Modbury adjoining to or parcel of the said manor of Upton, and a cottage sometime held by John Hill and late by Michael Mallet, and a tenement or cottage with three closes(named) and a piece of groudn called the Wood, with all lands appurtaining to the said tenement or cottage in Modbury, late held John Baker of Penqueit and William, his son, and late also bu Michael Mallet aforesaid, the manor of Penqueir and the site of he rectory or Parsonage of Modbury, with all apputenances, the advowson of the vicarage always excepted.
