Instructions from John, the Abbot of the moastery of the Blessed Mary of St. Peter supra Dyvam, to William Beuselin, Prior of Monteburi, to receive their fellow monk, John Defresne, a priest of the monastery, in the Priory. Given at the monastery.
Seal, pointed oval, 50.mm. originally about 55.mm. brown wax, on tongue; flattened, and worn at edges. Beneath a Gothic canopy the Blessed Virgin, seated, with the Holy Child in her left arm; convolvulus. In base, head of the Abbot beneath a round arch between shields of arms, per pale a fesse indented(?).
