Richard de Laurak, clerk, acknowledges the receipt of letters from Thomas Spurt, official of the Bishop of Bath and Wells, dated 3 March, addressed to master Walter Craas, notary public, Richard Pollowen John Cauce and Richard Laurak, clerks, instructing them to cite Henry, prior of the Hospital of St John of Wells, Adam Bynneworth, Richard Amys, prior of Stokecurcy, and the heirs of John Stouforde, to inquire into the right of the prior of Stokecurcy to the presentation of the church of Wotton [Wooton Courtney]; exemplifying letter of the bishop of 1 March, and of the King of 15 February to the same effect. By reason of the war with France, the alien priory of Stokecurcy had passed into the King's hand. Laurak cited the foregoing accordingly. Given at Wells.

The Seal of the official of the Archdeacon of Wells, red wax, pointed oval, originally about 30 mm, on tongue, protected by paper covering tied with string. Bad impression.

Endorsed: Deposition by Richard Amys, prior of Stokurcy, of the age of forty years and more, relating inter alia to homage done to Sir Robert Fyzpayn, knight, and to the homage done by William Wasyn for Knaploc [Knaplock] . His deposition confirmed by depositions by Hugh Wyllynges, rector of Oterhamton [Otterhamton], John Bakelere, Adam Mareys, John Mareys, Richard Corewill. References to Amys' predecessors viz. priors Giles Rosey Godfrey Bew T. Provest William Fraunces John Gaylard.
