Windsor, Berkshire: Lease for life

Lease for their lives in survivorship by John Hertle, of New Windsor, to John Burgeys, Isabel, his wife and Joan, their daughter, of a messuage with a curtilage in the town of new Windsor opposite the Guildhall on the east which Stephen Chapman once had of the gift of the said John Hertle for life. Yearly rent 10s gold or silver payable in equal portions at the feaste of Michaelmas and Lady day, with licence for the grantor to enter and distrain if the rent is in arrears. And bond by the said John Hertle to pay £20 to the said lesseess if they are disturbed in their tenure of the premises except through non-payment of rent. Repairs to be done by the lessees at their own expense.
