Indenture of lease upon surrender of his lease of 10 May 1571, by the Provost and College to John Toolie, of Burmington, co. Warwick, gent, of the rectory or parsonage of Compton, with all its appurtenances, the advowson of the vicarage excepted. To hold from Michaelmas last for the lives in survivorship of Thomas, James and Richard, his sons. Rent 12 quarters of wheat and 5 quarters 5 bushels of malt, or their money equivalent, and £10 16s and one boar to be delivered a fortnight before Christmas or 26s 8d for the same. Witnesses: Benjamin Owtred, clerk of the bursars.
