White Bear, Cheapside, London: Indenture of lease of tenements

Indenture of lease, upon surrender of their former lease, by the Provost and College, to James Lambe, of Fairford, co. Gloucester, esquire and Hester, his wife, daughter and administratirix of Frances Barker, late of Hampstead, widow, deceased, of four houses and tenements with all shops cellars and warehouses in the parishes of St Mary Magdalene in Milk Street and All Hallows in Bread Street in the city of London, that is to say both the houses called the White Bear and the White Hart. From Michaelmas last for 21 years. Rent £13 6s 8d.
The clause relating to the obligation of the lessee or his assigns or lessees to dwell in the White Bear has been omitted.

(1) Oval, originally about 18mm, chipped. A bearded profile.
(2) Octagonal, 13mm, Armorial: a demi-lion rampant (?).
