Chattisham, Suffolk: Grant of tenement

Granth in perpetuity by Robert Belcham, son and heir of John Belcham, of Chattesham, and Thomas Hayward, son and heir of Robert Hayward, of the same, to Thomas Warde, clerk, of the same, of a tenement with its appurtenances in Chattesham [Chattisham] called le Assch Hows, with a house built thereon and a garden and courtyard, lying between a tenement of Robert Godelesford called Clerkes on one side and the King's way leading from Gippewicum [Ipswich] to Haddeley [Hadleigh] on the other, one end abutting on the garden of Robert Chapeman, the other on the way leading from Chattesham Halle [Chattisham Hall] towards Belstedehalle [Belstead Hall].
Two Seals, on doubled tags.
(1) Only trace of red wax Seal survives.
(2) Round, 10mm, red wax. A cross.
Endorsed: that seisin and possession were delivered and taken in the presence of Nicholas Martin, William Swane, John Warde, junior, John Cudbard, senior, and others.
A note in the margin:
Thes stat was wrongfullye taken but thaye that gave it weste nate what thaye ded nor ded nate knowe what the prest ment for thaye nevare tok pany for it of him fore ye purpose yt it was geven them fore. Ye shalle fynd in the lordes Courte Roull kept the Mondaye beynge ye syxe and twenty daye of September in ye sexte yere of our suffrayn lady Elyzabethe. by me Anthony Thompson.
