Grant, in perpetuity, by Thomas Warde, clerk, of Chattesham, to Peter Sle, of the same, and Elizabeth, his wife, of a tenement situated in Chattesham [Chattisham] called le Assch Hows, with a house built thereon and a garden and courtyard, lying between a tenement of Robert Godelesford called Clerkes on one side and the King's way leading from Gippewicum [Ipswich] to Haddeley [Hadleigh] on the other, one end abutting on the garden of Robert Chapeman, the other on the way leading from Chattesham Hall [Chattisham Hall] to Belstede Hall [Belstead Hall]; which the said Thomas Warde had of the gift of Robert Belcham and Thomas Hayward. For a rent of 12d at Michaelmas during the life of the donor.
Seal, red wax, on doubled tag, fragmentary.
Endorsed: that seisin and possession were delivered and taken in the presence of sir Philip Dyley, vicar of Wasbrok [Washbrook], and sir Robert Fuller aliter Tiller of Hintylsam [Hintlesham] and John Ward, junior, and others.
A note in the margin:
Petar Slye for a sartayn sume of monye that he resayved of me Anthony Thompson and hother consedirasions in the presence of Mr Daye chefe prophist of Etone Colege and before the holl homge delivered these dedes to ye use that it hathe gone of longar tym thene any of us ded knowe or by owr fathers cowlde know. The weche use ye shall fynde in the lordes Curte Roule kepte the Monday beyeng the fyve and twentye daye of September in the sexte yere of our suffrayn ladye Elizabethe. by me Anthony Thompson.
