Draft of indenture of lease, 1597 – 8, by the Provost and College to William Jermyn of Thorpe, co. Norfolk, esquire, at the request of Sir Thomas Egerton, Knight, Lord Keeper, and by a decree made in Chancery 18 April 1597 in a suit between the Provost and Scholars of the King’s college of the Blessed Mary and St Nicholas in Cambridge, plaintiffs, and the said William Jerman, defendant, of all their meer and late called [not filled in] with the fishing, fowling and swanning appertaining, within the manor of Estwrotham [East Wretham], (reserving the customary rights of the tenants there). For 20 years from the date of the present. Rent not filled in.
