W. Collier, Thetford, 15 December 1740, to the Rev. Mr Sleech concerning the East Wretham lease. A Mr Buttler, a local gentleman, is anxious to have it. “Mr Butler do not treat with you about it for himself, but for a gentleman that lives in London whom” (sic) “would be glad to have the Royalty of the Manour to devert himself a month or two in the year, for he have no countery seat and this is a fine sporting Countery and Geame Plenty: I think he is the Best Chap you will meet with if you find things according as Mr Buttler says.” With a valuation of East Wretham, and of the timber at Blakenham, Creeting and Chattisham.
