Eton, Buckinghamshire: Indenture of lease

Indenture of lease, by the Provost and College, upon surrender of a lease to George Taylor, to David Stokes, D D, of Eton, of a tenement or messuage with backsides and gardens belonging with a cart way leading from the Common lane into the backside of the same, late in the tenure of George Taylor and now in the occupation of the said Stokes, now bounded and parted with a brick wall from a little backside and a little garden now in the tenure of Adrian Hill on the east, the Common Lane on the north, the passage to the backside of the Christopher on the west and the barn of the Christopher on the south, together with all cellars, sollars, stables etc appurtaining, between the Cock wherein Adrian Hill now dwells on the north and the Christopher wherein Richard Cox dwells on the south, also all the wainscot glass and other implements comprised in a schedule annexed.
From Lady day last for 21 years. Rent 40s and two fat capons on the feast of St Thomas.

Signature of lessee.
Seal, oval, [20] x 16mm, red wax, on doubled tag, about 5mm chipped away at the bottom. Armorial, a chevron between three fleurs de lys, two and one.
