Creeting, Suffolk: Statement of ownership

The Provost and College to all mayors, sheriffs, bailiffs, constables, toll-gatherers, caretakers, purveyors or takers of victual. Intimation that the manor of Creeting St Marie is parcel of the possessions of the College and the privileges granted to the College by the Act of Parliament of 20 Henry VI appertain to the said manor and the tenants thereof and their servants and factors viz. that the Provost and College, and their men, farmers and tenants of their manor lands and fees, and their goods and cattle should for ever be quit and free from toll, pannage, pontage, murage etc in all markets, fairs and other places in the realm of England, and should not be distrained or molested by any person or persons of the same, but should be received into the King's protection and their corn, hay, horses, oxen, kine, sheep, lambs, swine, pullen and any other victual and their carts, waggons, ships, boats, barges, should not be taken or driven away by any officer whatever without the consent of the owners. And any officer who does so, may be sued at the King's Bench or Common Pleas by action of trespass Quare vi et armis, and after the first process for default of appearance forthwith Exigent be awarded and so to proceed to Outlawry, and no protection cum clausula nolumus or cum clausula nolumus unto such offenders be available.
