Creeting, Suffolk: Indenture of agreement
Item
20 October 1580
Indenture of agreement between the Provost and College and John Poley, of Badley, co. Suffolk, esquire, by which the Provost, in return for £4 paid, promises that when John Poley surrenders certain customary lands called Newton fields at the next court, the steward will grant the premises to the said John and Edmund, his son and heir apparent, to hold according to the custom of the manor. At the last court Poley had paid a fine of £6 13s 4d in respect of a trespass waste or forfeiture upon the premises, which totally acquits him respect thereof.
