Property in Middlesex: Exemplification of assise
Item
3 June 1454
Exemplification of an assise of novel disseisin taken before John Prysot and his fellow Justices of the Bench, between Ralph Boteler, of Sudeley, Knight, John Gargrave, esquire, Adam Leuelord, gentleman, John Amyas, clerk, and William Knyght, plaintiffs, and John Haynes, Thomas Dyer and Richard Burton, defendants, Easter 32 Henry VI (Public record office C.P.40/773 rot.127), concerning a messuage, 62 acres of arable, 23 acres of meadow and 10 acres of wood in Stanewell, co. Middlesex. Richard Burton claims that the messuage and 53 acres of arable, 8 acres of meadow and 2 acres of wood were lately held by Hugh Dyer, John Sampson and William Sampson, who enfeoffed William Westbury, Provost of Eton College, therewith. At the time of this assise and before the suing out of the writ of the same, Richard Burton held the Provost's estate in the same. The plaintiffs claim a different descent of proprietors in which the Provost is not named. In this respect the judgements confirms the plaintiffs.
