Penn, Buckinghamshire: Statement

Statement in the hand of Wynnesmore and with his signature, made at the request of Gilbert Frenche and Richard Lorkyn, that:
(1) Gilbert Frenche, of the parish of Hegeleie, executor and feoffee of John Frenche, late of Hegeleie in Farnham Verdon, examined on the last will of the said John, says he was present at the making of the same, and the testator willed that Margaret, his wife, should have his lands in Farnham Verdon, Hegelie, Burnham, Bekynsfeld and Stoke for her life, with remainder to John, his son, and his heirs male, with remainder to the next heir male. "of this kynne those name should be Frenche". It was the testator's mind that no woman should inherit. The testator was able to dispose of his lands at his pleasure except a house and some lands in the parish of Hegeleie, which he gave to Roger, his son, his heirs and assigns, for his life, which house the testator bought from Robert Silvestre of Windesor. His mark.
(2) Richard Lorkyn, of Farnham Verdon, examined upon the same, agrees with Gilbert Frenche in every particular. His mark.
