Property in Buckinghamshire: Indenture witnessing payment

Indenture witnessing that Alice Cotton, late of Burneham, spinster, has paid to the Reverend Mathew Tate, late of Burneham, vicar, and Robert Messenger and William Fellow, churchwardens, £100, to him and their successors in perpetuity, in trust to buy freehold lands or to put the said sum at interest on good land security, the profits to be applied to the following charitable uses, viz. £3 a year to the schooling or teaching of eight poor children of the parish of Burneham of such poor parents as are legal parishioners, to read English and so forth, the children to be chosen at the discretion of the minister and churchwardens for the time being, between four and five years of age, capable of learning when admitted to the school, in which said school provision is made for their being constantly taught forty four weeks in every year, eight weeks in each year being appointed for their absence in regard to the three holy seasons and time at harvest viz. two weeks at Christmas, one week at Easter, one week at Whitsuntide and four weeks in harvest; and £1 to such other charitable uses as the donor shall yearly during her natural life direct and, after her death, 10s a year to the minister to preach a sermon on the Sunday before Christmas day in which sermon mention is to be made of the donor and 10s at Christmas to ten poor women who, through parishioners, do not take alms from the parish.
