Royal Patents: Grant of manors of Banstead and Walton

Grant in frankalmoign to the Provost and College of Eton of the remainder of the manors of Benestede [Banstead] and Wauton [Walton] on the hill with the park and warren there, and all other appurtenances and certain lands in Charlewode, co. Surrey, granted to Ralph Rocheford, now deceased, by patent of 16 November 1437, with remainder to the King's esquire, John Merston and Rose, his wife, for their lives in survivorship; and of the remainder of the advowson of the church of Wauton on the hill granted to John and Rose for their lives in survivorship by patent 21 April 1438. John and Rose now hold all the premises. Given at Westminster by the King.
