Indenture of covenant, between Thomas Hawton, of Cuckham, yeoman, of one part, and Richard Abell, of Witney, co. Oxon, clothier, and Simon Parrett, of Witney, clothier, of the other part, by which, in consideration of the marriage intended between Thomas Hawton and Jane Parrett, daughter of Joan Parrett, of Witney, widow, and for £40 paid by the said Joan for the marriage portion of the said Jane, the said Thomas, being seised of a messuage with an orchard and garden and 5 acres of arable adjoining in Cuckham and a plot of meadow called the Stich and 4½ acres of arable in the field of Cuckham called the Pound field and 7 acres of arable in the field called Sutton and 10 acres in Cuckham Field and a butt of meadow in Bassemead, with all appurtenances, shall hold the same to the following viz. to the use of himself for his life, with remainder to the said Jane for her life, with remainder to their heirs male lawfully begotten, with remainder to their heirs female, with remainder to the right heirs of the said Thomas.
