Cookham, Bray and Maidenhead, Berkshire: Indenture of bargain and sale

Indenture of bargain and sale by Benjamin Bayly, of London, coachwheelmaker, to Thomas Eyre, of Huntercombe, esquire, John Dawson, senior, of Burnham abbey, yeoman, Richard Lane, esquire, and John Mason, yeoman, of Cypenham, Thomas Sexton and Thomas Bayley, of Britwell, yeoman, William Fellow, yeoman, Thomas Golding and William Mitchel, of East Burnham, yeoman (all of the parish of Burnham), of a close with an orchard and garden, whereon a messuage or tenement doth or lately did stand, containing 6 acres, now or late in the occupation of John Aldridge, situated in or near Cookham Dean in the parish of Cookham, formerly in the occupation of George and Thomas Buckingham, for £120 and in consideration that the grantor may have the liberty to take down the messuage now standing on the close and convert the materials to his own use and for a further £10. To the intent and purpose that the lessees and their heirs shall permit the minister and churchwardens of Burnham for the time being to enjoy the rents of the premises and devote them to the purposes of the following instruments:
(1) Deed of Alice Cotton, late of Burnham, spinster, of 20 November 1735, giving to Mathew Tate, vicar of Burnham, and Robert Messenger and William Fellow, churchwardens, £100 in trust, the income to be applied for certain charitable uses in Burnham. [The deed is catalogued in ECR 38 047].
(2) Will of Elizabeth Bayly, 5 April 1722, giving £20, the income to be applied to teaching 6 poor children of Burnham to read and learn to sing the Psalms after the manner of the church of England.
Mathew Tate, vicar and Peter Style and John Edgson, churchwardens, on 3 July 1736 lent these sums of £100 and £20 to Elizabeth Bayly on a mortgage upon the premises.
By her last will, of 9 April 1745, Elizabeth Bayly gave to her son, Benjamin Bayly, the mortgaged premises.

Seal, square, 12mm, red wax, applied. A griffin rampant.
