Goldcliff and Coldrey, Monmouthshire: Copy of indenture

Copy or draft of indenture of lease, by the Provost and College to William Morgan, of Lanternam, co. Monmouth, esquire, of the priory and manor of Goldeclif, Nasshe and Coldrye with all appurtenances, except the advowsons of the churches but including the rents of £101 reserved to the college. From Michaelmas next, of from the expiry of a former lease, for 80 years. Rent £53 10s and 30 oxen of 7 years old or more but not exceeding 11 years, (sizes and dates of delivery specified). If the latter are not delivered as specified, the lessees are to pay £3 6s 8d for each of those of the lessor scantling and £4 for those of the greater.
By indenture of 7 October 1546 the College had leased the premises to Sir William Herbert, Knight, one of the gentleman of the privy chamber, for 20 years from the previous Michaelmas, for a rent of £101.
By indenture of 11 October 1555 the College, for £200, had leased the same to Geoffrey Dennyell, of Marlborough, co. Wilts, esquire, for 20 years from Michaelmas 1566 or upon the expiry of the foregoing lease, for the foregoing rent.
