Goldcliff and Coldrey, Monmouthshire: Counterpart of lease

Counterpart of lease, by the Provost and College to Henry Morgan, of Lanternam, esquire, of the priory and manors of Goldcliff Nash and Couldrey, excepting timber trees. And whereas at the fall of the underwood in Priors Wood in 1711 there were preserved by the then tenant, Lawrence Lord, 1200 saplings of 15 years' growth or upwards, they are specially to be preserved from spoil or damage.
From Michaelmas last for 20 years. Rent £35 13s 4d and 14 quarters 6 bushels of wheat and 51 quarters 5 bushels and 2 pecks of malt or their money equivalent, and 30 oxen between 7 and 11 years old (measurements given).

Seal, round, 15mm, red wax, applied on doubled tag. A lion rampant.
