Content description

Richard A Knowles, to the Provost.
"That our intended inclosure has miscarried will be no ill news to you and the College, as Mr Palmer seem'd to think that, upon the most eligible plan, the impropietor would have played only a saving game." "Sir Gilbert Heathcote's steward had all along amused Mr Parker and Mr Pochin with the hopes that Sir Gilbert would make no opposition. In fact he did not, for I believe he was never consulted upon the subject. However, on the Tuesday morning before the meeting, he came to Mr Pochin and told him that Sir Gilbert's consent could not be expected". "It was next proposed to take the fields in and leave the fen in its present state. This motion was quash'd by Mr Palmer's demanding such terms for the College as he was sure they would not comply with; tho' no better than he had a right to expect. Here the affair ended".
Seal, red wax, impression on the shield of a tower.
