Content description
Lovell Badcock, Bledlow, to James Charters, esquire, deputy registrar, Eton College, demurring at the fine of £440 7s 1d demanded. The increase of the fine has closely kept pace with the improvements made on the estate during Badcock's minority, which has been no encouragements to improve. "I wish to be informed where the onus is to fall in case any accident should happen to the house. The repairs have not been neglected but as I think its in some danger, the stack of chimneys at one end having fallen to the ground two years ago from top to bottom the front thas been supported by buttresses for years. The beams in the parlour having sunk considerably and obliged to be proped with pillar in the centre of the room, I cannot but apprehend some danger before the expiration of my present lease..."
