John Bates, Reading, to the Rev Mr Norbury, Eton College. "I never heard of a lord of the manor demanding more than the rack rent of his tenant... and if I shall be able to prove that there is two fields of the same name in the farm, I shall apprehend that the freehold land is crep into the rolls of Bledlow Manor and therefore a mistake..."
