Indenture, between Michael Blount, of Mapledurham, esquire, heir male of the body of Lyster Blount, esquire, of the first part, the Right Reverend John, Bishop of Oxford, of the second part, and Provost and Fellows of Eton, of the third part, and the Rev Edward Tew, vicar of Mapledurham, of the fourth part, by which Blount exchanges a parcel of ground at the south end of the garden belonging to the almshouse immediately adjoining the vicarage house, containing in length from the wall inclusive on the south side thereof which forms the boundary of the almshouse garden to the paling on the north west wide of the garden 140 links and in width 44 links and making in all 9 poles, for a parcel of glebe land belonging to the garden of the vicarage containing in length 241 links and in width 22½ links and running parallel from south west to north east with the almshouse garden and making in all 9 poles. The exchange is made pursuant to an act of 17 George III entitled An Act to promote the residence of parochial clergy by making provision for the more speedy and effectual building rebuilding repairing or purchasing houses and other necessary buildings and tenements for the use of their benefices. The exchange is made for the purpose of making a backway and coach yard to the vicarage. The fence between the vicarage garden and that of the almshouse shall be kept up at the expense of the vicar.
