Lyminster, Sussex: Election of attorney

Election by Radulpha, abbess of the monastery of St Mary of Almenesch, and the whole convent there, of sister Nicholaa de Hercez, one of the nuns, to the priory of Lemenistre, vacant by the death of Georgeta le Clouetiere, the last prioress, and her appointment as their attorney both in the secular and the ecclesiastical court, with general administration of all their affairs and possessions in England.
Dated in the chapter (hora capitulari) of Almenesch 20 March 1408 - 9.
Two seals, pointed oval, bronze wax, on tongues.
(1) The Abbey, somewhat chipped at top and bottom. The Virgin with Child on her left knee, a lily in her right hand. A star above a crescent to her right side.
(2) The Abbess, about 40 x 33mm. Chipped at edges. The Virgin standing with the Child in her arms, within a gothic canopy. Beneath, the abbess as before and shields. The arms are more distinct than on ECR 56 083.
