Copy of lease, 4th August 1534, by Thomas, Prior of the Priory of St John Baptist and St John Evangelist of Caldwell, and the convent of the same, to Richard Daye of the parsonage of Ocley with all tythes as corn, hay and wood belonging within the parish of Ocley, also the tythe of Bayonswood in the parish of Clappham, except the advowson of the Vicarage of Ocley and Clappham with all their own woods and tythes of the same and all manner of rents, suits and services belonging to the manor of Ocley and Clappham being always reserved to the lessors. To hold from the end of the natural life of Sir John Wiant for 71 years. Rent £12. The lessors to pay all manner of dymes and other charges as to the queristers of Lincoln of other. The lessee to repair and maintain the buildings of the parsonage as in "tyling thekking winding splenting daubinge ye yearthwork" and all other reparations except great timber which shall be delivered to the lessor within 3 miles of Okley by the lessors as need shall require. The lessee to bear the costs of 2 visits a year by a Prior, cellarer and steward when they come to keep court, and to find straw for the church of Ocley to be strewed as it has been of old time accustomed to be strewed. If the payments of the rent are 14 days in arrears the lessors may enter and distrain. Given in the Chapter House of Caldwell.
