Born 18 December 1812, the fourth daughter of the Head Master John Keate and his wife Fanny (nee Brown), Emma married Richard Durnford at Hartley Wespall, where Dr Keate was rector, on 6 October 1840. They had three children, Richard, Walter and Fanny Louisa. Emma died 16 October 1884.
