Charles Townley married Augusta, the eldest daughter of Robert Keate, the surgeon. An army officer, he became something of a national hero following a dangerous and difficult 820 mile ride from Belgrade to Constantinople in 131 hours, carried out in bad weather with a vital dispatch from the Prime Minister, Lord Palmerston. [Possibly b.1813]
