Letter from Provost Hornby to Edward Augustus Arnold

Arnold (1857 - 1942) was at Eton from 1871.2 - 1876.2 then went to Hertford College, Oxford. His career there was undistinguished but he subsequently became a well-known publisher, founding the firm of Edward Arnold in 1890. He was the grandson of Dr Arnold of Rugby.

Glad he does not like Oxford better than Eton. 'Few Etonians do'. Hopes however that he will enjoy it enough to be happy and worthy of his name
