Title
Fanny Keate: Letter from Countess Pauline Neale
Level
Item
Date
1810
Content description
From 69 Grosvenor St Wednesday 13th. Thanks for her visit to Eton and its 'gay evenings', preferable to the 'select parties' in London. Visited the House of Lords with the Duchess, her sister and her daughter and felt very conspicuous being the only ladies there. The Chancellor delivered the Prince's pious speech. Alluded to the Prince's prayers, but many doubt he is even 'in that routine. Her highlight was going behind the Throne and hearing the speeches from there. She wanted a last peep into the Chamber and frightened of making a noise, slipped and nearly broke her neck. Addressed to Mrs Keate, Eton College, Windsor
