Fanny Keate: Letter from Dr Brown to Mrs Brown
Item
10 Jan 1811
Inside Dated 10 Jan 1811 but outside on the letter dated 1812.
Sending a 'Bile' for Dr Keate, hopes he had some amusement in London which he much deserves as he has such difficult and anxious labours. His people are employed with a thrashing machine 'everyday experience convinces me more and more of the necessity of having one in this country where Labour is so dear, workmen so difficult to be had'.
She must be careful not to inspire any cold air in the staircase or the passages. She lives in the land of robberies, he has not heard of any. Has heard from Mr Gray who has bought in Dumfriesshire and invites him to visit.
On outside: Clenchwarton dated 10th Jan 1812
Addressed to Mrs Brown, at the rev.d Dr Keate's Eton College, near Windsor
