Margaretta Brown: Letter from Dr Brown
Item
10 January 1813
From Margaretta Farm. Keen that Dr Keate should be able to write to the West Indies regarding the unfortunate brother. Great description of the chimney doctor coming to Mrs Hoseason's house because the house is uninhabitable due to the bad construction of the chimneys which blows fires out and covers the place in soot causing the cook to lose her temper. The tricky shepherd has gone but Dr Brown has gained his dog Bob 'the most intelligent of the species' for a guinea. Desires she writes avoiding letters crossing in the post.
