Margaretta Brown: Letter from Fanny Keate
Item
19th Century
Written from Shackstons to her dearly beloved Sister. She has left the men to talk scandal and sat down to write:
Extraordinary occurrence on the journey from Launceston to Shaftesbury the carriage lurched and swerved and they had driven over a live horse! Were going fast and could not stop and luckily the boys on the box were alright. Made her quite sick. Encloses samples of trimmings which can be bought much more cheaply there than in Windsor. Says her 'good man' (Dr Keate) seems to enjoy himself so much there.
Addressed to Miss Brown, Mudeford.
