Margaretta Brown: Letter from Fanny Keate
Item
19th Century
Written from Launceston. In raptures having seen the Valley of Freshford near Bath of which she had heard much from Mrs Keate. Streams and cottages scattered through the scene and as beautiful as Switzerland without the Alps. The Valley extends for miles and miles. Nothing in Wales was more delightful and she would give the world if Margaretta could see it. Plans to visit Stonehenge. Called at Orchardleigh and met Lord and Lady Bath. She seems to be a lovely womand. 'He is as silent as the grave and so shy it is quite distressing to see him and I was sorry to.... that Lord Weymouth and Lord Henry Thynne are equally (agreeably?) so'.
Returning to Eton soon. Addressed to Miss Brown, Mudeford.
