MISC ALHC
Solicitor's bundles
Series
1800 - 1960
These bundles were passed over by A.L.H. Carter from Farrer & Co., although much of the material long predates him. The bundles consist mainly of correspondence, drafts and deeds relating to land transactions, although other estate -related issues such as chancel liability are also included and there are one or two other matters, such as a dispute with the Inland Revenue over a loan to Dr. Alington and a potential libel action. Substantive leases and conveyances should be recorded in the lease books and registers but these bundles often provide a good deal of background information and such things as sale catalogues and even plans.
The boxes had already been labelled ALHC when first catalogued though no further numbering had taken place. Each bundle has a running number, with sub-numbers for items within it.
