Content description
6 small sketchbooks with black cloth covers featuring Shakespearian plays and other plays most probably performed in London between 1875 and 1895. It includes sketches of actors and scenes of 'A Trip to Scarborough'; 'Olivia' (1885?) with Ellen Terry as Olivia, Henry Irving as Dr. Primrose and William Terris; 'Miss Tomboy' (sketchbook no. 3); 'As you like it' (sketchbook no. 4); 'The Winter's Tale', 'Rob Roy', 'Sinbad' (sketchbook no. 6). Calendars for 1887 and 1888 and Henderson 's merchants' ready reckoner used as pastedowns of sketchbook no. 6.
