Alfred Buckley, attended Eton (JEY 1843-1848), elder brother of Duncombe Buckley, was in the Admiralty and afterward Secretary to the Duke of Somerset.

17 ALS written by Duncombe Buckley to his brother Alfred 25 May 1854 - 9 August 1855 include descriptions of the camp before Sebastopol with a small drawing of his hut, the bureaucracy involved in obtaining provisions, his opinion on buying commissions, his lack of compensation for his war injury and lack of activity in the winter and spring of 1855.
