Content description
688 ALS and 32 autograph cards written by Lucy Hester Stone, written to her parents, to "Molly" (Mary Vidal Stone), to Christopher and "Granny", Lucia Stone. Lucy studied music in France and Germany, and visited Australia in 1878-1888. The 20 ALS from this visit are up to 40 pages each and are accompanied by typescripts made for her grandmother Lucia Stone. There is also ephemera relating to her trip to Australia: ship's menus and passenger lists. There are also about 50 letters written to Lucy by others.
There is also several hundred items of ephmera documenting Lucy's career, as Second Violin in the Shinner Quartet and later the Nora Clench Quartet, with posters, programmes, fliers, announcements and press notices.
