Edward ("Ned") Wellington Stone, 1867-1936, was the second son of Edward Daniel Stone and Elizabeth Theresa Vidal Stone. He was an Assistant Master at Eton College from 1890-1923, serving as House Master from 1901-1923, and married Laura Neville Bovill (1872-1925) in 1907. Their children were the engraver Alan Reynolds Stone (1909-1979), Mary Neville ("Maisie") Stone, and Diana Stone.

Content description
Correspondence, manuscripts and documents relating to the life of Edward Wellington Stone.
There is both outgoing and incoming correspondence for Ned Stone, as well as letters written by his wife Laura. Outgoing correspondence consists of over 200 ALS written to members of his family, from early boyhood to old age. There is a separate group of 70 ALS to his wife Laura, and another separate group of over 250 ALS to his son Reynolds.
Incoming correspondence consists of nearly over 1150 letters, 700 of them predominantly from former pupils written to M'Tutor; of these, at least 125 of these were written by boys, servants and contemporaries serving in the Armed Forces during World War I. There is a separate group of 160 ALS applications from parents for places in his house, c. 1899-1912; and another separate group of over 300 ALS, condolences from friends and old boys on the death of Ned's wife Laura in 1925.
Correpondence also includes a group of 30 letters written by Laura, to her husband, her father-in-law Edward Daniel Stone, Christopher, and with some letters written to her, including some from her godson Alan written while in the Army in 1914.
Manuscripts includes diaries recording parts of 1898-99, 1900-1902, 1904, 1906 and 1930. There are about 100 pages of autograph manuscript Latin verse excercises and notes on Classical subjects, detailed accounts for the year 1887-1888, and documents relating to his estate.
