Original letters sent to Grizel Hartley, which were collected by P.S.H. Lawrence in preparation for ‘Grizel, Grizel Hartley Remembered’ (1991).
The short autograph letters, which are often only a single page, are from various Old Etonians, sent while they were on active duty during the Second World War. They contains their responses to news Grizel sent them in her letters and describe their own experiences of the war. The letters show her enduring popularity and influence on the boys.
