The notebooks are organised by place and principally concern his trips to Malaysia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Congo, Taiwan and Thailand. They contain Young’s notes on the places he passed through, the people he met and cultures he experienced. The notes are generally very brief; however they also record information on the political situation at the time including the Vietnam War.
