Mainly signed typed letters with some autograph postcards
The early letters thank Merchant for sending a copy of his novels and other writings, as well as the possibility of Barbara Hepworth’s ‘Crucifixion’ sculpture being exhibited at Coventry Cathedral. The later letters concern an incident involving Revd. Gareth Miller, with whom Merchant had a disagreement. A copy of a letter from Miller to Merchant is included the file
Also included in the file are letters from Anna Barrington-Ward regarding her PhD. Thesis on the redesign of Llandaff Cathedral
